Sylvan explores the quiet architecture of the forest through abstract fine art photography. Rather than documenting the landscape, the series transforms it; reducing woodland space into vertical rhythm, luminous structure, and atmospheric presence.
Photographed within the temperate forests of Canada’s west coast and along quiet river landscapes, each work reconstructs the experience of the forest through movement, light, and tonal subtlety. Trees become lines, space becomes rhythm, and the landscape shifts toward abstraction while retaining its emotional resonance.
Created through intentional camera movement and long exposure techniques, the collection balances structure and atmosphere, offering a refined biophilic presence for collectors, interior designers, and contemporary architectural spaces.
Rooted in the Coastal Forest
Based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Sylvan began in 2017 as an exploration of the region’s temperate coastal forests. The vertical density of the trees, shifting woodland light, and layered spatial rhythms continue to shape the evolving series.
Ongoing and expanding, the collection reflects a sustained study of how landscape can be distilled into form, atmosphere, and emotional presence; transforming the forest into compositions defined by rhythm, balance, and restraint.
